Tweak Your Vocera Application Server (VAS) for Best Performance

While a stock Windows server OS configuration will likely yield acceptable performance, Vocera can benefit from performance optimizations .
To set the performance of the Windows OS to the optimal performance setting for Vocera, use the following procedure:
- Right click My Computer and choose Properties
- Click the Advanced tab
- Click Settings under the Performance heading
- Choose the radio button titled Adjust for best performance
- Click the Advanced tab and click the Programs radio button under the Processor and Memory usage headings
- Click OK
What These Settings Do
The above configuration sets the thread quantum. In Applications mode, Windows provides more frequent but smaller time slices during thread switching. In Background Services mode, Windows provides longer time slices, but less often. Customers running with Background Services may experience more or less significant delays in getting notifications from core software. Nuance recommends using Applications mode in that case.
